Note: He left New York State and moved to Missouri in 1857 and for a number of years followed the profession of teaching. In the Census of 1870 he was in Chandlerville Township, Cass County, Illinois. He was listed as an Inn Keeper. In 1880 & 1900, he lived in Range 10 W., Cass County, Illinois and was a farmer. Emily's brother and sister Albert and Mary Wing lived with them. In 1900 he was named Edward. Another source indicates they moved to a farm near Northview, Webster County Missouri in 1906. In 1910, he was enumerated in Webster County, Grant Twp., Missouri. He was farming there. In October 1914, the family moved to Eureka, Kansas where they lived until Edwin and Emily died.

Note: He married Caroline Hawthorne September 20, 1863 in Cass County, Illinois. The name is Edwan Bevier on the marriage record. This is somewhat of a cross between Edwin and Edward, so I'm assuming it means Edward as Edwin's two marriages are documented fully.
