Note: He lived with his mother and two sisters in Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York during the Census of 1850. In 1860 &1870 he was residing in Gardiner Twp. Richard later was a farmer owning four large tracts of land in the fertile valley of the Wall kill. He resided at "The Ford" where the direct road from Tuthill to Gardiner crosses the river. He married, Esther Hasbrouck, a woman of strong character and quick intelligence. She was educated at Kingston Academy and at a school for young ladies at Poughkeepsie. Mr. Bevier was a prominent Republican and died suddenly while attending a political convention at Kingston. At the next session of the convention, General Sharpe eulogized the deceased as a Christian gentleman whose very name was significant of every Huguenot virtue. Richard's family lived in Gardiner, Ulster Cty., New York in 1880.
