Edgar, John B. (b. ABT 1809, d. ?)
Note: In 1870, he resided in Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey. His occupation was farming and his real property was valued at $10,000. Living with him was a male, Blanchard, age 24, a female Edith B. five months old and a female, Mary E. age 16. Also residing with him is Catherine E. Bevier, age 82. No doubt that this is Catherine E. Bevier, Catherine S. Bevier's mother, Catharine E. TenEyck Bevier. Catherine S. Bevier is not listed, thus she is presumed dead or institutionalized and her mother came to New Jersey to help raise her grandchild, Edith B. Edgar. Perhaps Catherine S. Bevier died in childbirth or shortly thereafter. There is also a nurse living with the family which might indicate that the 82 year old grandmother was ailing. She died less than a year later.

Bevier, Benjamin Rush Dr. (b. 21 JAN 1828, d. 22 FEB 1907)
Note: Benjamin Rush Bevier and his twin sister, Catharine S. Bevier, were born at Napanoch, January 21, 1828, in the old stone house in which their grandfather, Conrad Bevier, lived and died. They were just a year old when their father, Dr. Benjamin Roosa Bevier, moved into the large white house built on the main street of the village. This house was home to Beviers of this branch of the family for over 75 years. He was educated in the public school of Napanoch and at the New Paltz and Poughkeepsie Academies. He graduated from the New York College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1849 and immediately entered upon the practice of his profession with his father in Napanoch. Because of his association with his father he was always referred to as "Young Dr. Ben" even after he had reached the age of 70 years, and his father had been long dead.
He married Ellen M. Bange, daughter of a New York merchant who had made large investments at Napanoch in tanning and leather manufacturing. They had six children, two of whom died in infancy. The relationship of Dr. Bevier to his sons and daughters, to his grandchildren, and to a wide circle of friends and relatives was always characterized by unusual affection. His home was a favorite gathering place for all his relatives. For many years he was an interested and helpful member of the Reformed Church at Napanoch. He was a public-spirited citizen who served the people in various positions, notably as Supervisor of the Town of Wawarsing from 1873-1894. Served in the New York Assembly in 1889.
