Note: He was a wagon maker/wheelwright. He lived with his parents in Stark County, IL in 1860 and was a blacksmith. He was originally a member of the 127th Illinois Infantry, enlisting August 15, 1862. His description was that he had blue eyes, light hair, and a fair complexion. He was 6' 4" tall. He was listed as a deserter from that unit October 30, 1862. He then enlisted in the as a private in the 11th Illinois Volunteer Calvary on November 2, 1862, under the alias of Jackson A. Williams. He served in Co. A of that unit and his occupation was blacksmith. He was captured by the enemy 2/1/1863 and exchanged 10/19/1863. He participated in Grierson's Raid in December 1864. He was discharged September 6, 1865. His widow received a pension as a result of this service. On March 8, 1908, the Adjutant General of the US Army removed the charge of desertion filed against him, under a provision of an act of Congress dated March 2, 1889.
Mary Elizabeth Frail was a sister to John Frail who married Jane Bevier, Abraham's sister. The family resided in Kewanee City, Illinois in 1900. He was a wheelwright.
