Note: He registered to vote in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California Mar 13, 1888. Herbert went to California to be Secretary of the YMCA in San Jose. After five years he entered the San Francisco Theological Seminary to study for the ministry. He graduated in 1893 and for eighteen years he was pastor of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Francisco. During the census of 1910 he was living in San Francisco and then he moved to Centerville in Alameda County where he died in 1912. Herbert's widow and children moved to Morgan Hill, California where she was a teacher of Domestic Science and Drawing at the high school level.

Note: Edwin Downer Bevier was born in Ellenville, New York and his parents later resided in Pennsylvania in Wilcox, Ridgway, and Phillipsburg. At twenty-two years of age he went to Pittsburgh as a telegraph operator, then to Johnstown soon after the flood. Later he went to Philadelphia following the same occupation. He studied for the ministry in Chicago and was ordained October 11, 1899. He was superintendent of a mission in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and had pastorates in Central Lake, Michigan, Itha Ca, and Mt. Zion in Wisconsin. In 1904, he became Presbyterial Evangelist at Fayette City, Pennsylvania. In 1900, he lived in Richland County, Ithaca Twp., Wisconsin. During the census of 1920 his family resided in Greene County, Carmichaels Township, Pennsylvania. In 1930, he resided in Columbiana County, Madison Twp., Ohio and was a Presbyterian clergyman. In retirement, he resided in Penney Farms, Clay County, Florida.

In 1900, she lived alone in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The census indicates she mothered nine children with seven still living.

Note: In 1880, they resided in Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania and he worked in or owned a variety store. His brother, George H. Curtis lived with him. In 1884, he was a non-playing manager of the Altoona Mountain Citys, a professional baseball team in the short lived Union Association. In 1900, the family resided in Chenango, New York.

Note: The census of 1900 indicates she was born Dec 1874. She lived alone in Lafayette Village, Illinois in 1910. By 1920, she had moved to LA, California and lived with her sister in law, Cornelia F. Bevier. Her grave in Aurora, Illinois curiously lists her death as Jan 1908, although she appears later in the two census records listed above.
