Note: He was listed as William Elmer Bevier in census of 1870. In 1880 he lived in Aurora, Illinois. He was an express messenger like his brother, John. In 1889-1890 he lived at 919 Douglas Street, Sioux City, Iowa. In 1900 he lived in Sioux City, Iowa and his occupation was express agent. Strangely enough, his census record for 1900 indicate both of his parents were born in Germany. He later resided in Los Angeles, California. Emma S. Burwell/Bevier lived in Los Angeles in 1920 with sister-in-law Cornelia F. Bevier.

Note: He served in the Union Army 132nd Illinois Infantry, Co. C. He enlisted in Kane County, IL. He attained the rank of Sergeant. His widow, Mary J. Bevier, filed for and received a pension in Illinois for his wartime service. He resided in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1870 and worked in a railroad shop. He lived in Aurora, Illinois in 1880. His occupation was express messenger. When he died in 1895, he was working in a drug store in Aurora.
