Note: He lived in W. Gallatin Township, Gallatin County, Montana in 1880 with his step-father and mother. In 1900 and 1930, he lived in the same county with his wife and daughter. He did carpentry work. He was included in a publication called Progressive Men in Gallatin County, Montana. In September 1915 he was Postmaster in Logan, Montana.

Note: He earned an engineering degree from Iowa State U. in 1933. Went on to earn a Ph.D. He headed the U. of Iowa's Physics Department from 1909-1942. He was made Dean Emeritus. He was V-P of a local Ames, Iowa bank, Ames Savings and Trust, for many years and served as president of the Kiwanis Club and as a member of the Ames City Council.
