Cecil, Alta (b. 21 OCT 1910, d. 20 JAN 2002)
Note: Alta had an avid interest in American history. She belonged to the Colonial Dames, DAR, and other historical/genealogical societies. She was a genealogist, talented musician, poet, and artist. She was honored by the Congregational Church with its "Nation's Outstanding Woman" award. She was a loyal supporter of the Bevier-Elting Family Association and the Huguenot Historical Society. Alta had a decades long friendship with the long-time director of the Huguenot Historical Society, Kenneth E. Hasbrouck. Alta was the first recipient of the Bevier-Elting Family Association's OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD in 1996. She was a trustee of the association and lovingly referred to as the association's "Matriarch." She had a continuing interest in genealogy and family history. To know Alta was to love her!

Moved to Elmira, New York in 1890. He was a Sir Knight Templer and a member of the G.A.R. In politics, he was a Democrat.
