Cecil, Alta (b. 21 OCT 1910, d. 20 JAN 2002)

Note: Alta had an avid interest in American history. She belonged to the Colonial Dames, DAR, and other historical/genealogical societies. She was a genealogist, talented musician, poet, and artist. She was honored by the Congregational Church with its "Nation's Outstanding Woman" award. She was a loyal supporter of the Bevier-Elting Family Association and the Huguenot Historical Society. Alta had a decades long friendship with the long-time director of the Huguenot Historical Society, Kenneth E. Hasbrouck. Alta was the first recipient of the Bevier-Elting Family Association's OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD in 1996. She was a trustee of the association and lovingly referred to as the association's "Matriarch." She had a continuing interest in genealogy and family history. To know Alta was to love her!

Census of 1920 indicates he was born about 1876 and was the manager of a factory, living in Elmira, NY. In 1930, he is still in Elmira and V-P of a sales book company.

The stone also indicates his wife Anna's life span as 1881-1937. In 1900, he boarded with a timber company in Cambria County, Black lick Township, Pennsylvania. In 1910, he lived in Bradford County, Franklin Twp., Pennsylvania. His occupation was general work. He registered for the WW 1 draft in Bradford, Pennsylvania.

Porter, Theodore F. (b. 5 SEP 1844, d. ABT 1917)
Note: From: The History of Bradford County - T. F. Porter was reared in Granville Twp., educated in the common schools; was engaged in farming there for 24 years, being now the owner of one of the best farms in Granville Twp. which was cleared and improved by his father-in-law Dr. Solomon Bovier; was in the Civil War having enlisted in 1864 in Company I, 15th NY Engineers, participated in the battles of Fort Fisher, The Weldon Raid, and in other minor engagements and was honorably discharged after 11 months of service. Moved to Elmira, New York in 1890. He was a Sir Knight Templer and a member of the G.A.R. In politics, he was a Democrat.
